The main camera operator will start by switching to the anchor tool and selecting the starting node - the pole the team is at.
The height stick operator will measure the lead length and relay the information. You can use the numbers on the back of the height stick to help measure. Place the bottom of the height stick against the pole and position it out to the anchor. If the length is greater than 17' you can use your foot as a guide and slide the bottom of the stick to that point. For example, place your foot at the end of the stick and then slide the height stick up so the bottom of it is even with your foot. Then, if the anchor is at 6' the total length would be 6'+17', so 23'. Typically, this measurement can be rounded to the nearest whole foot.
It is also helpful to identify the bearing of the downguys and anchor relative to the pole. If the downguys exist to support terminating cables on deadends, it is likely inline with that span. If the cables are on through-bolts and create a break angle, the guying is likely bisecting the pole and spans. You can use the tools under the distance and bearings inputs to set the anchor as bisecting or inline.
By typing in the length and selecting the correct inline or bisecting option, the anchor should be drawn to the map accurately and the main camera operator can press "Select Next Point."
