The main camera operator will take several photos at the pole. There is no requirement for the order the photos are taken in, but the order that follows will often be the most efficient. The first thing the main camera operator will do is confirm the pole is drawn on the map correctly and that the team is at the correct location.
The first photo is often a hallway photo looking forward or downline in the direction you will be heading. The hallway photo will be used to help confirm the direction of cables to adjacent poles (especially at intersections) and confirm conditions throughout the span. Frame the picture so that you can see your subject pole (the pole you are at) and the adjacent pole, so that the entire span is in view. This photo can often be taken at the previous midspan in order to best position yourself. These are context photos often used to assist in back-office processing.
The last photo you will take is also a hallway photo, but looking back at where you previously came from. The same definition applies, frame the photo in landscape orientation with both poles and the entire span visible. You can and should repeat this photo for any additional spans in the case your subject pole is at an intersection.
