Field collection in Katapult Pro is centered around photo documentation and the mobile interface. To access it, open Google Chrome on your device and go to katapultpro.com/mobile. (Safari can work on iOS devices as well, though we recommend using Chrome.)
The menu in the top left of the mobile device allows you to access different jobs, toolsets, and more.
To load a job, select it from the job chooser dropdown. You can type and filter the list when convenient.
Once a job is loaded, you can access different tools by switching toolsets.
By default, the checklist tool (used for photo capture) is in the Aerial Design and Underground Design toolsets, however different models could have additional toolsets configured for data collection.
You can load reference layers such as KMZ's or Shapefiles on the mobile device provided they have been setup from the office prior to field deployment.
You can also select job layers to display adjacent jobs' nodes and connections in a read only version on the map.
You can choose to display attributes on or off as map labels during data collection
Use the map base feature to change between options for the aerial view, including a satellite view or roadmap.
*It is recommended to leave the map base in "hybrid."
If you select “Manage Offline Jobs,” you will have the option to cache job data for offline use. While you have internet connection, be sure to add to this list which job(s) you'd like to collect for offline. Then, you're ready to collect data as you normally would.
At the end of the day you will need to connect back to Wi-Fi, hit the three dot menu in the top right of the offline jobs screen, and "sync all jobs with cloud." This will ensure that time buckets and all other attributes and map details are ready for the upload and office use.
If there is any symbology unfamiliar to you, you can open the legend to see the map styles for the job, noticing any color and icons unique to different nodes, connections, and sections.
At the bottom of the menu, the settings option allows you to control several user specific settings. Most of these settings won't affect any of the data you collect but are user specific settings that can help your mobile experience.
For example, the "auto-zoom checklist" settings will automatically recenter the map when using the checklist tool (the tool used to take photos). Each time you press done, Katapult Pro will move you to the next section or pole automatically.
