Now that the job is prepped with photo data, you are ready to begin annotations and cable tracing. Start by turning on cable trace view in the top ribbon of Katapult Pro (three vertical lines, will be blue when enabled). Once turned on, you can click on the connection lines on the map, this will open up a new tab in Google Chrome showing the main height photos for each pole and section on the selected connection.
It ultimately doesn't matter where you begin but it's common to begin in a reference span connected to your takeoff pole. When you're ready to switch spans you can click a different connection back on the map page and the photos tab will update accordingly.
When cable trace view is enabled, you'll notice a red or green glow around the connections on the map. When just beginning in the job, all connections should glow red since no cables have been traced. They will automatically switch to green once cables have been traced in that span.
Inside the photos page with cable trace view enabled, there are a few additional features to be aware of:
The Swap Photos feature will switch the order of the photos on the page. This can be used to line up photos to match the perspective of the camera operator.
The black pencil at the bottom allows you display attributes at the bottom of the photo that can be helpful while extracting attachment information.
The teal photo chooser in the bottom left of each photo can be used to bring up all photos associated to that location. These additional context photos can help determine attachments and cable traces in situations where vegetation and equipment block your view in the main height photo.
Ensure you are in the measure photo toolset by clicking on the photo and placing a temporary marker. Click on the black icon at the left side of the marker (we call this the Photo Toolset Chooser) and make sure you are using the Measure picklist (or the Measure Photo Toolset)
It's also useful to have multiple monitors when annotating and cable tracing. You will be navigating between the map and photos tabs so having multiple displays helps you stay oriented and working efficiently.
