Next, we'll look at how to annotate attachments in pole photos. By "annotate" we mean labeling all of the attachments and components in the height photos. There are few guidelines to doing this well in Katapult Pro:
Annotations primarily happen in Cable Trace View, not the map page.
We will only be focused on the pole height photos to get started, not the midspan photos. Midspan annotations will come in the next step.
The general rule for accurate measurements is to annotate what is bolted on the pole, where it is bolted on the pole.
When annotating poles in Katapult Pro, we recommend working from top to bottom, systematically identifying and marking all required attachments as you move down the structure. Keep in mind that annotation requirements will vary depending on your specific workflow. For example, if you're performing pole loading analysis (PLA), you'll typically need to annotate all bolted attachments and label each component (such as arms and insulators). However, if you're only conducting make-ready assessments, certain hardware like insulators or equipment like cutout arrestors may not need to be called out. Ultimately, your team will determine which components are essential to annotate based on your project's objectives and requirements.
In this section, we will look at how to annotate a variety of different attachments.
