File imports allow you to bring KMZ or Shapefile data into your job as imported layers that can be used for reference or to seed locations and connections onto the map. These files should ideally be less than 5MB in size. Since they are saved at the job level (accessible only within this job), these imports can be viewed on the mobile interface as well.
To import a KMZ or Shapefile, navigate to the Map Layers panel and locate "Imported Layers." Click the "Manage Layers..." button to open the Manage Map Layers window. In the File Imports section, click "Choose File" to select and import your file. Once imported, any files can be downloaded, renamed, or deleted from this same window. You can customize the styling of your imported KMZ or Shapefile by clicking on the palette icon to the left of the file name in the Manage Map Layers window. This allows you to adjust colors and visual appearance to suit your needs.
If your File Import is set to selectable, clicking on a section of the layer will display various options including editing the description, changing colors, modifying geometry, copying the feature, deleting a feature within the layer, or copying nodes out to another job. If your layer is a polygon, you can export by polygon (where any nodes found within the layer will be exported) or share by polygon (where any jobs that have nodes contained inside the polygon will be shared using the same sharing dialogue as the job share button).
Once the layer is configured as needed, click the cursor to deselect the layer under "Imported Layers." This will enable you to place items directly over or within the layer and continue your design work.
