After assigning SCID numbers to each pole, now is a great time to associate your photos. Associating photos simply means to align the photos to their correct locations on the map, either their respective poles or midspan sections. The best way to do this is with the map tool since it comes with some QC and an additional option.
Select the tool, choose to auto-star the main height photos if needed, and choose to associate photos at all locations or selected ones. The auto-star height and midspan photos is a feature based on your photo classification. The software will require a main, "starred" photo at each location to annotate and trace. You can either manually select these (and you can always manually change these photos later) or allow Katapult Pro to select that starred photo for you automatically based on how you classified your pole height and midspan height photos.
Because the photos are classified, you will see warnings if any photos are associated incorrectly (i.e. photos classified as "Midspan" should associate to midspan sections. If they associate to the pole, you will see a warning.). A Photo Association Results window will appear, listing the errors that need to be addressed.
To fix association errors, open the Photos section in the Node Info panel. You can multi-select photos by holding the control key ("Ctrl") of the keyboard and clicking the photos that don’t belong. You can then click and drag the selected photo(s) to the location they should go to. When your mouse cursor is over a location, the icon will have a green highlight around it. Release the mouse button and a window will pop up to either move the photos or duplicate the photos. If you choose “Move Photos,” the photos will be removed from their original location and moved to the selected location. If you choose “Duplicate Photos,” a copy of the photos will be placed onto the new location.
If some photos have been left unassociated, you can go back to the "TOOLS" dropdown and select the "Office Power Tools" toolset. Towards the middle will be the tool to show unassociated photos. This is a legacy tool, but it exists should you find it useful. If you click on this button, a photo tray will appear to the left of the Map.
The photo tray will display all unassociated photos. At the top of the window will be a header with the camera that the photos were taken on. Sync photos should remain unassociated but most other photos should go somewhere on the map. You can drag and drop any photo from the tray to the map location the way you did with the photos from the "Photos" section in the Node Info panel.
At the bottom, you can click on the red "X" to close the tray. The blue circle with the pop-out square will open the tray in a new window. The indigo circle with the picture icon in it will toggle the associated photos' visibility. The dark trash can will delete the unassociated photos.
