"Poles added for loading" refers to situations where adjacent reference poles must be fully documented due to pole-to-pole guy configurations. This occurs when a reference span - a span connecting a pole within our scope of work to a pole outside our scope - contains a pole-to-pole guy wire with the load-bearing (point load end) terminating at the pole within our project scope. Because loads from the adjacent reference pole are being transferred through the guy wire and anchored on our in-scope pole, accurate pole loading calculations require complete data collection on the reference structure generating those loads. In these cases, the adjacent reference pole must be fully collected with height measurements and all contextual data, including any additional reference spans extending from it. This comprehensive documentation ensures that the transferred loads from the reference pole are properly accounted for in the structural analysis of our in-scope pole, verifying that it can safely absorb the additional forces introduced by the guying configuration.
