The second way to cable trace is routine we call the "Extraction Loop." This routine will help us annotate more efficiently by selecting cables automatically, removing the need to repeatedly press tilde and select cables.
Holding ALT and pressing the tilde (~) key will initiate the Extraction Loop (use "option + ~" if you are using a Mac.) The Extraction Loop will start at the top marker and work down. You will know you are in the routine if you see the notification pop up at the bottom left of the screen that says "In extraction loop. Press Esc to go onto the next item," which you can do if you don't need to trace the wire to that midspan.
As you click to place the wires in each photo and complete the trace for the selected marker, the routine will automatically move to and select the next traceable wire (it skips anything that does not need to be traced). When you get done with the last marker, the Extraction Loop will end automatically and you will notice the directions "No more markers to trace. Quitting Extraction Loop" in the bottom left. If you need to, now you can reposition markers or add attributes and details.
